Drag and drop freeform- lining up options?

Nov 15, 2015

Hi

I create my own matching drag and drop interaction  instead of using the template, because I have to present more options to choose from, than targets and want to have access to their shape and color.
The thing is I'm missing a function that there is in the template:

In the template the choices line up in a specific area one after the other- and when after I choose one and drop it on a target, the other options line up in the rest of the area without hiding each other, replacing the one I took out.

Is it possible to organize this function manually?

Hope I am understood:)

Thanks

Hi Shevi, I'm not sure if you are asking about lining up the items that are to be dropped on the target, or you're items are on top of each other once they are dropped on the target.

To line up items on the slide, the guides are your best friend.  Right click your slide, select Grid & Guides, choose Display Drawing Guides.  Drag your drawing guide to where you want the items to line up.

To stop your dropped items from sitting on top of each other, right click your target shape.  Choose drop and drop>free option.

Hi Shevi,

So you're referring to how it'll look once you've dropped it? The location of where an object snaps to will be determine by what the drop target is and how you set up the drop target options. You'll find directions here on how to set it up.

Tile - will drop on top of your target so that just the corner edge is showing, kind of like fanning out a deck of cards.

Stack Random - will have the object appear on the target, but in no particular location.

Stack offset - will have the object appear on top of the target, offset just to the right a bit

Free - will place the object on top of the target wherever the user lets it go

Snap to center - place the center of the object over the center of the target

Based on what you're describing, I think Free or Stack offset will fit your needs.

Whatever you select will apply to all the items on that slide. Hope that helps!

Hi Shevi,

Since I seem to have misunderstood what you meant, would you be able to share a copy of the .story file or some screenshots so I could take a look at the specifics of your set up? You can upload it here using the "add attachment" button or you're welcome to send it along to me here if you need to share privately.
