Drag and drop question type bug in Arabic

Jul 09, 2017

I have attached a simple file showing the problem. In the drag and drop options, selecting Tile or Stack offset causes the drop item to stick to the mouse and it doesn't "drop" anywhere.

Like other things in Storyline, when it comes to "supporting" RTL languages such as Arabic, Articulate is very poor. I wish you Articulate would:

(a) start fixing bugs which appear in RTL and double-byte languages, rather than ignoring them because not enough customers are demanding they get fixed. One of the selling points of your tools is that they support such languages. Well they don't at the moment, so please start fixing the bugs with these languages.

(b) stop marketing their tools as supporting such languages when they blatantly do not.

Hello Simon,

Thanks for sharing the details and a file for us to take a look at.

Can you confirm if this course was upgraded from SL2? I do see a similar issue reported.

The workaround we have listed is to utilize the Free option in the Drop Target section as the file you shared was set at.

I understand you were having some difficulty with RTL, but this is for Drag Items in HTML5 and does not seem specific to that.

Sorry Simon. I didn't mean to sound confusing :)

Thanks for confirming that the file was an upgrade.

  1. Yes, it works when set to Free - that is a listed workaround that we have.
  2. The problem exists for all Drag and Drop utilizing HTML5 with a different Drop Target set

Also, it does not seem to be reproducible in new Storyline 360 files, so you may want to try this as well.

I will add this thread to our report though as we are trying to track user impact.

Thanks for the info!

My file has more than 300+ slides. It was originally created in SL2 and then migrated to SL360 when it came out. When you say "it does not seem to be reproducible in new Storyline 360 files" I really cannot re-create all 300+ slides in a new SL file. If I create the interactions in a new SL360 file and then import/copy into my existing file, is that going to work?

Good news, Simon! We just released another update for Articulate 360, and included a few important fixes and new features that you'll see in the release notes here.

We had talked about how a drag item wouldn't always drop on a target in HTML5 output unless you clicked your mouse to release it.  That issue has been addressed!

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application.
