Emailing Published Presenation

I am a newbie and still working off the trial software.  Just wanted to clarify the action of publsihing.

Is a player loaded into the file and therefore executable by a receipiant or do you have to have the software on your system to play the file?

Am asking as I emailed my file to the decision maker and he cannot get it to play.
