Embedded YouTube video will not preview
Aug 22, 2013
Hi all!
I am a new Storyline user, and I am trying to embed a YouTube video into my course.
Under Insert, I select Video, Video from Website, and insert the embed code. All is good up until this point. The thumbnail appears, and I can edit the settings as I wish.
However, the video will not Preview, either by pressing the Play button on the left side of the menu or by selecting Preview Slide, Scene or Project.
I did do a little troubleshooting to see if it would play once published. I inserted the same YouTube video into a new project (still wouldn't preview) and published it. I uploaded it to our Sharepoint site, and the video played without a problem.

It seems that there is only an issue with the Preview feature? Or am I missing something completely major here?
Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Erika and welcome to E-Learning Heroes! I don't think that you've missed anything at all, nor is there an issue with preview. That would be expected behavior and you can read more about that in our article about publishing and sharing your Storyline content.
Hi Leslie - thanks for the response.
So the preview/play function in the Movie Tools Option will never work for YouTube videos?
Hi Erika! I would not say never. I just tested a file, and preview worked for me, so it could be local settings or related to the video that you are using.
Well I'm not sure what changed, but now my videos are at least previewing when I select "Preview Slide" or "Preview Scene" under the Publish area.
The Play button on the left side of the screen under Movie Tools still does not work, but nevertheless I am happy with this unexplained change!
Thanks Leslie!
Nice! Thanks for the update Erika
