Embedding Flash Content from Flipsnack

Sep 25, 2014

Hi all,

I've been using something ebook software called "Flipsnack". I've paid for the full license which enables me to download my files into Flash formats.

I'm having issues embedding the content though.

Trolling a lot of boards and Youtube videos, there are instructions for inserting content via "Flash Object" but the end result only offers a blank book - with no content in. I'm checked that it is the correct file format (.swf).

Has anyone had any experience in doing this?

Nothing seems to work right now.

Regards,

Lloyd

Hi Lloyd,

When you download your files, are they completely self contained SWF files, or do they have supporting files (such as an .html file that launches the ebook)?

If they are a set of files (of which the .swf is but one), then you could insert the ebook as a web object. You'd place all of your files in a single folder and rename the .html file to "index.html". Then, you'd add a web object in Storyline and point it to the folder in which your files reside. When published, all of these files will get pulled into the published output.

If you do, indeed, have a single .swf file, then I'd check on the version of AS that the flash output is using. If it's AS2 vs. AS3. If it's AS2, it may not work in Storyline. This could be what you're seeing.

Here's an article on Flash support in Storyline. I hope this helps!
