Ensuring that only one sound plays

Apr 10, 2013

I have a slide with about 20 hotspots on it - all of which have spoken words when clicked on. I'd like to ensure that these don't play against each other if the user clicks them in quick succession. Is it possible to generate a trigger that would ... stop all sounds and play 'specific' sound, i.e. to interrupt and stop previous and just play current. In another authoring program I could do this but it seems to me that you can only stop audio by naming each item in the trigger in Storyline (rather than a generic 'stop all'). I hope I'm wrong! Can anyone suggest a solution for this query? Thank you.

I agree that adding 19 stop triggers to each hotspot would be annoying.

I believe the easiest solution would be to put each sound on a layer and 'show' the layer rather than 'play' the sound when the hotspot is clicked.  The default layer settings of "Hide other slide layers" will stop any other sound when a new one is clicked.
