Is it possible for me to erase part of an image that I grabbed from the internet? I am trying to add a necklace to my character but don't want the white box around it to be there.
GIF files and PNG files can have transparency as part of the image. However, with GIFs, the transparency is absolute and cannot have a percentage of opacity. That file type also has a restrictive color palette and is most likely not your best choice.
If you have access to an image editing program such as Adobe Photoshop exporting a PNG or GIF file is pretty easy.
