error publishing and previewing

Jul 11, 2020

Hi there, I'm working on a large file in Articulate Storyline, it has 141 slides; it's just under 40MB in size. When I try to preview or publish to review 360 it produces an error and cannot complete the process. We're getting this problem across two different computers. Is there an issue or limit I'm not aware of?

Thanks!

Hello Martin,

Thank you for your post!

Though there isn't a hard limit on file size in Storyline, it depends on how much media is used and the computer's processing power. So the larger the file is, the longer it may take to load.

Here a few related chats with great insight and advice:

Now the error worries me. Can you share more detail on what the message says?

Thanks Katie, found the problem. In a very large module on one slide and on one layer we had put a } instead of a ) in the layer name. Presume Articulate was treating the } as code and this broke the whole module when it came to publishing or previewing. Our mistake, but we lost a lot of development time and it took hours to find the error, so there might be something you can do with the error notification on this.
