Evaluating Articulate Storyline 2 vs TutorAuthor NG
Oct 27, 2016
Good afternoon everyone! I work as a training specialist in a law firm. We are looking for a tool that we can use to teach as well as assess. I see that I can quickly generate simulations in the show/try/test modes, but is generating software simulations, with instructional text boxes and buttons (Next, Previous, Help, and Progress) something that anyone has done with Articulate? I wonder if a template could be used that would incorporate a single box for instructions and buttons for the various operations users will be able to do on each slide? We have also been evaluating TutorAuthor NG, but it seems that it cannot generate a test easily from any content that you create. I was curious if anyone on this forum can offer a good comparison - we are getting very close to purchasing something! Thank you!

Hi Christine!
I've not seen anything about TutorAuthor before - and hopefully some other members of the community will be able to chime in and assist.
Templates are huge time savers. They generally have a custom design with slide layouts and content placeholders. They may even include media, animations, interactive objects, variables, and triggers. Just add a template to your course, then customize the content to fit your situation. Articulate Storyline has a library of ready-made templates, but you can add more. See this tutorial for details.
Hi Christine,
I am not familiar with TutorAuthor either, but I've done quite a bit with software simulations in Storyline. I'm not 100% certain I understand what you are asking. Can you clarify or draft a quick wire-frame that we could look at to answer your questions about the capabilities within the Articulate tools?
