executing Javascript - TTS- iSpeech
Sep 14, 2012
I am working on a learning activity for which we want to use a hosted Text To Speech service (iSpeech).
The interaction is as follows:
1. The user inputs text into the freeform Essay type Text-Entry-Box and clicks “Submit”
2. The data in the Text-Entry-Box must be reported/stored to the LMS (-this work, thanks to the online community)
3. *Simultaneously the user input must be read aloud using the iSpeech TTS.
4. *Play next video/slide after the TTS audio plays and ends
I have attached files of TTS demo that supports Javascript, provided to me by iSpeech. I am trying to figure out how the TTS can be integrated with the learning activity.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thank you very much,

Hi Vimal,
Is there an online service available for Speech to text that you know of?

Wim
Yes, we've been considering www.loquendo.com and www.ispeech.org
Is there a way to integrate the TTS within Storyline ?
For example, in Adobe Captivate, the TTS can read the Notes panel and record an audio file on the spot.

I have this same question, Vimal! SL 360 has TTS native ... but can it apply TTS to a variable? Let's find out ....
Hi Martin,
The TTS is going to create audio in your course based on what you've typed it, it's not going to read just what is on your screen such as a variable value. That sounds like something you may want to look into Screen readers for! The one we use and support is JAWS 16 and later.
