Explain why false in quiz

Mar 20, 2020

Hi folks!

Working on converting a paper assessment to electronic format (so that we can house and track in the LMS).  Questions are a mix of multiple choice, fill the blanks, essay questions & true or false.  On their T/F questions, if the answer is false, they require a brief statement or explanation as to why it is false.

Can I replicate this T/F and why exercise in SL360? I'm guessing variables would be the way to go but any tips or direction is greatly appreciated!

Hi Simara,

When you insert a graded true/false question in Storyline 360, it defaults to having Correct/Incorrect feedback where you can add additional information on either layer.

It sounds like you prefer not having Correct/Incorrect feedback but only provide a pop-up when the False option has been selected? If that's the case, then I would consider customizing each feedback layer based on your answer.

In this example I attached, assuming True is correct, I removed all the Correct layer elements and inserted a trigger to jump to the next slide immediately. In the Incorrect layer, I added information in the placeholders.

If False is the correct answer, then you may consider filling in the Correct layer and removing all elements from the Incorrect layer. Check it out, and I hope it helps!

Hi Simara,

My mistake! I didn't initially understand what you meant regarding the learner providing a brief statement.

If the user chooses False, you may consider pointing the T/F question towards a Short Answer or Essay question slide to make it trackable. Otherwise, I'll leave it up to our community members to help you with this custom interaction!
