I have noticed something strange since I upgraded to the latest Storyline - when I launch the course, both on the cloud and on the ipad (using LMS not Articulates Player) that there is an extra window with a Launch button on it.
Does anyone know why and how I can get rid of this? See screenshot
Hello Helena - This thread is a bit dated and I'm not sure what you are referring to by 'extra menu'. Do you have a screen shot you can share so we can better understand?
Currently my LMS is blocking some functions that would normally be available in embedded content such as videos (even though they won't admit it.) In order to have have full access to those functions i have to force the course to launch in a separate window...hence, the Launch page/button.
Denise, we experience this as well in our LMS (Latitude Learning.) Ultimately, the behavior we are trying to achieve is to get the course player to resize in the browser window thus not truncating any content. I would like to be able to do this using the new Modern player without having a launch window, but that option is not there. I have attached two pictures to compare the two player Browser Setting options.
With the classic player style, you can control the size of your course on desktop computers. (On mobile devices, the classic player appears as a bar along the side or bottom of the screen.) You'll see those additional options for Player size in the drop down list.
With the classic and mobile player, you can choose the browser sizing. That is connected to opening in a new window, so you could choose to open at optimal size or let it fill the screen on desktop computers. (On mobile devices, the browser always fills the screen.) If you don't launch it in a new window, the course will open in the existing window at the size already set.

check the Player > Other options to see if the Launch Player in new window is ticked

What is the purpose of having the launch page?
We've had issues with the user's progress being reported back to our LMS because the user closes this extra Launch page in the background.
In what situation would you want to publish with this option for a page with a launch button?
