"File not found" error for clients on Mac/iPad running Safari

Nov 19, 2016

Hello all,

We have had several clients report a "File not found" error on Mac/iPad clients running Safari.

I had to run updates on my Mac to get the latest safari (which is also on the latest iPad air running IOS 10.1.1)

The method used to open a popup window which worked in older safari now generates an error and results in a "File not found" in the module popup window.

Knowing which will experience the error is tough - older iPads aren't compatible with the 10.1.1 update - and even newer iPads may or may not have updated. Likewise with the desktop clients - we don't know if they've updated yet.

Is there an update or a fix for the newest version of Safari not allowing the module to open up?

Any information or help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Wes

Hey Wes,

Sorry this is happening! Where are you hosting the course the users are accessing on the iPads? My first thought for the iPad issue would be to make sure that you're running the latest update for Storyline 2, update 11 (which you can download over here) when you're publishing your courses to ensure that you have the added support for recent iOS versions

As for the issue on your Mac itself, are you attempting to view the content locally? If so, this could be due to local security restrictions in your computer, Flash Player, and web browser. It's best to upload the published output to a web server or LMS for proper testing. However, if you need to view it locally on a Mac, add the folder where the course is located to your local Flash Player Security Settings.

Keep me posted! :)
