I am developing a self-assessment where learners click on can do statements of that range in difficulty from level 1 to 5. I would like to calculate the highest number of the series. Any ideas on how to do this?
Wow these are very interesting approaches. By holding off on the calculation until the submit button you don't have to worry about the order that people click the sliders. I think that has been my challenge. Trying to get the value right even if they click the items out of order and reporting it in real time has proved difficult.

Try this.
If two have the same number, it will list the last.
Walt's is very nice as it gives you the specific item that's highest.
If you are just looking for the highest value, without regard to which, here's a simple way.
