Font Spacing Issue with Storyline2

Feb 02, 2016

Has anyone encountered in issue when a course is created the line spacing is set to "exactly 14pt" but when viewed on another computer the font spacing is squished. Then when the spacing on the story file that has the squished spacing is changed to "exactly 20pt" it appears like the spacing on the first computer that is set at 14pt? This is throughout the course (same font) and has been tested on multiple computers with the same results.

We are both using the most up to date version of Storyline2.

The only difference is the original developer is using Windows 10 and I'm using Windows 7.

Published outputs from the original developer display fine.

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi, Jonathon -- Many thanks for sharing your question, and sorry to hear of your troubles! May I ask if you are seeing this behavior when testing the course in the intended environment, as well? And would it be possible for you to share some screenshots of what you are seeing, and maybe even upload your file so we can take closer look?

UPDATE for anyone following along with Jonathon's post. Our Engineer shared the following:

"Hi Jonathon -- Thanks for the info and for sending in the Storyline project file. I reviewed it and was able to replicate the behavior you're experiencing.

Considering that your Developer is using a Mac - which commonly offers a relatively higher resolution, the issue may have been caused by the disparity on his/her screen resolution's DPI. Articulate Storyline requires Microsoft Windows to be configured with 96 DPI (dots per inch). If Windows is using a different DPI setting, you may experience erratic behavior when viewing the project, such as:

*Elements of the application are misplaced or distorted.
*Objects such as texts, images are misplaced, misaligned or distorted when previewed or published.

If your developer installed Storyline on Windows 10 virtual machine via Parallels Desktop, please have him/her set these configurations on his Mac.

Step 1. Follow along these important tips and best practices for using Articulate software on a Mac with Parallels.

Step 2. After completing Step 1, set Windows 10 to run on 96 DPI.

Step 3. Restart Windows 10 virtual machine and make the necessary adjustment to the course.

I hope this information helps."
