I'm trying to set the text format in an text input box, but the input box resets to it's preset when I click outside of the box. How do I set the input box to the formatting I want?
This input box was added after screen recording a software interaction, but the problem also happens when I manually insert my own text input box.
The only way I found to keep the formatting of a text entry field and its content is to lock it on the timeline as soon as you are done formatting it without clicking elsewhere.
Christine, the setting is set to "Do not autofit" and it still doesn't work.
Annie, I saw an early response of yours while searching this problem, I tried that but it still doesn't want to hold onto the formatting. I'll try again though.
I want to change the font size that is entered to be 8 and bold. Can that even be done? I click on the box (empty, no text in it) and set the font size and bold, but it doesn't appear to stay that way.
Sorry for the delay. I was just about to take another look, but I saw your last post. When I worked with it last, it was updating, even after I clicked off of the box. However, I did notice that if I re-opened the original file, the bold formatting had stayed in place, but not the size.
If it's working for you now, that's awesome I didn't try locking it down, due to some time restrictions. If you have any other problems with us, let us know!
I'm having the same problem, and locking the text box after changing the size is not working. I have already changed this from "do not autofit" to "Shrink text on overflow".
Wes, what do you mean by "locking it down", so that I can try it.
My font starts out fine, until you try to type, then it disappears and I get what you should see in the screen shot.
I need the input box that small, and am trying for an Arial 8pt as font. I need people to be able to see what they're typing.
This has been a while since I looked, but I believe if you lock it in the timer bar (the eye and the lock on the left) the size should stay. I don't know about the bolding staying though.
I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 10 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here. The items you all may be particularly interested in are the following:
Fixed issue where text would be improperly sized in text-entry fields, Fixed issue where text would be improperly formatted in text-entry fields, Fixed issue where text would change fonts in text-entry fields
You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.

Hi Wes,
Have you checked to see if the text box is set to "auto fit"? Right-click on the object and click on "Format Shape".
You should be able to adjust the options shown below to fix the problem:
If you change the option to "Do not Autofit" it should reflect any changes you made to font size.
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Christine

Hope it helps and have a nice day!

Hi, thanks for the answers.

Hey Wes,
Can you share the .story file here, so we can take a look?
Thanks!
Christine
Wesley,
Can you tell me what type of formatting you want to do so I can try it on my side?
Agree with Annie, set the formatting and then lock do not click again
Hi Im getting an error when trying to upload the .story file here.
An image of the error I get. Could be on my end, not sure.
Wes,
If it's too large or not located on your hard drive, it may time out. Did you try Annie's suggestion?
Here is a link to the source file.

Scene 1 slide 10. The text that should go in 48169.
Thanks.
Yeah I did try her suggestion and it doesn't work. The text formatting resets to the way it was when the field is created.
I have the file, but I don't understand what you want to do with it that is not working...
What formatting do you want on it?
I want to change the font size that is entered to be 8 and bold. Can that even be done? I click on the box (empty, no text in it) and set the font size and bold, but it doesn't appear to stay that way.
Thanks for the help by the way!
Hey Wes,
Is this the right one? The font changes seem to be sticking for me - size 8 and "Bold".
Even if you click outside the field?
Any news on this?
I'm still getting the problem. Kind of makes added text input fields useless unless I can format the size of the text that is entered.
Thanks.
Just tried locking it down, seems to work for now. I'll continue using it that way in the meantime.
Thanks.

I just got the size to stay, but am still having the problem that you cannot see what you type, when you type it.
This has been a while since I looked, but I believe if you lock it in the timer bar (the eye and the lock on the left) the size should stay. I don't know about the bolding staying though.
