Gaps in Story View

Oct 13, 2019

I've got a project that consists of nearly 100 slides that are linked to from a single slide, but which don't link to each other. Because they are not linked to each other, they are arranged horizontally in story view.

Those 100 slides are very similar to each other, so I created one and copy/pasted to create the series. I'm using scenes to organise them.

My issue is that when I copy/paste slides, they are shown in story view with massive horizontal gaps between them. When I create slides from scratch, the gap is much smaller. I've attached a slide showing what this looks like.

The large gap makes story view unwieldy. I can collapse each section which helps, but I would really like to be able to get rid of the gaps.

Has anyone else had this happen and do you know how to fix it?

Thanks Lauren. I infer from your answer that there is currently no way of achieving this?

These are some of the other Story View features I'd find useful so will include in the feature request:

  • Rearranging the layout of sections
  • Renumbering sections
  • Displaying all inbound and outbound links when clicking on a slide (currently only outbound links are shown)

I'll write it in a week or so. I'd be interested to know other community members' thoughts on Story View.

Hi there, Chris!

You're right: Changing the Story View layout is not yet a feature of Storyline, but I'm going to share your thoughts with the right team. Look out for a confirmation email for that shortly!

If any of these ideas get added to a future update, we'll let you know! Here's how we prioritize feature requests, and you can also stay in the know on all the new things we're adding to Articulate 360 on our What's New page
