Grow animations are flashing / bouncing when published.

Jun 21, 2017

Hello Heroes,

I'm experiencing a new and strange problem. While trying to 'grow' animate some circles onto a page, I'm encountering a jumpy flashing / bouncing animation when published. The issue does not show up in preview.

I originally thought it was due to some visual complexities in my design, but after a few hours of testing, I'm unable to find where the problem resides. I decided it was a bug in my file, and started fresh to find out it's even happening in a brand new file.  I've attached a Storyline file of a completely blank project with JUST circles. Please keep in mind that this issue is only happening when you view the published project in a browser.

I hope someone can help. This has me seriously stumped!

Hi there Sarah, sorry you're running into this! We're working through an issue in Storyline 2 where Grow entrance animations flicker in HTML5, but they work well in Flash. Here's a screen recording that compares the two.

For now, I'd recommend using a different entrance animation--the Shape animation with the Out effect is very similar to Grow.

I'll be sure to pop back in here to share any new information I receive on this bug. Thanks again for bringing it up, and I'm sorry it's causing you headaches!

Thanks for checking in, Greg.  I'm sorry that you're dealing with this issue, as well. To be sure, are you also using Storyline 2?

We have reported it to our team, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on it to evaluate how many customers are impacted and what impact it has on courses. The number of customers and depth of impact are two of the elements that help us prioritize bugs and fixes.

Here's some more detail about how we tackle bugs.  I'm really sorry that I can't say if this issue will be fixed, but you're in the right place to stay updated on this bug's progress.

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, we are using Storyline 2. I switched to a different animation for the time being. It's a shame because I always use the growing animation to create a "pop" in our modules when it comes to call-outs, whether using Camtasia, Captivate or (I wish) Storyline to maintain consistency.

Thanks,

Greg
