Having a button link to a web page

May 31, 2013

I am new to storyline and am trying to link a button to a website. I have set up the trigger as follows:

ACtion = Jump to URL/FILE

File = website I want it to link to, and I have checked the link while in edit mode to make sure it is correct

When = User Clicks

Object = correct button

But, when I publish the project and click on the button, nothing happens. I am also having the same problem with the links I have put in the resources section of the player. None of them open anything. Do you have any ideas why this isn't working? Is it possibly due to my company's pop-up blocker settings?

Thank you,

Margaret

If you want your links to work when viewing a published project locally on your harddrive (not content hosted on a server)  then you need to make sure that the folder that holds the published content is added as a "Trusted Location" in your Flash Player settings. Right-click your pusblished content, select Global Settings >> Advanced >> Trusted Location Settings. Then add the folder to the list. This should then allow you to run the local content and open the links.
