Is there a way to ensure that the "Notes" tab on the player is the default tab that shows when my project is published? I have the menu, glossary and notes on my player, but want the Notes tab to be the one that shows when students take the course?

Do you mean you want only the Notes tab to show on the first slide, and then you want all three tabs to show on the rest of your slides?
You can make adjustments to which tabs are shown for each slide within the Slide Properties window. Click the gear to the right of the base layer, and then check or uncheck the tabs you would like to show or hide.

Hi Kevin! The up/down arrows that Alyssa shared earlier - will also let you re-arrange the items in the sidebar :) So, move Notes up to the top and that will be the default tab that opens in the sidebar in your course.

Hi Kevin, welcome to Heroes! To make changes to your player tabs, go to Player Properties by clicking the Player button in the top navigation area.
Next, be sure everything except Notes is unchecked in the Player Tabs section.
You can also move the Notes tab to the left side or right side of the player by clicking the up and down arrows, shown below:
