HELP! Drag function not working after first slide...

Apr 08, 2022

I'm working with 3rd graders, making a learning game about US states. Each of them has a "level" they helped create, with a puzzle to solve. When I test the slides individually, everything works fine with the drag over trigger function - on the first slide I try. All subsequent slides don't let me drag anything. It gives me the cursor affordance (little hand) but wont let me move the item.

I have tried publishing and using review, and both do the same. Why is drag over not working after the first slide???

Really cool demo. I run into the same issue.

I changed the drag over to drop on and it seems to fix it. My guess is that the drag over and trigger to jumping to a slide doesn't release the object (?????). I'll have the support team look at it.

There are a number of places you can make some production issues. I think you can get rid of many of the hotspots and invisible shapes. For example, in California: the gold bar could have a disabled state as an initial state and then change it to normal. That gets rid of some triggers and an extra shape. The door hotspot doesn't need to be there because you can drag/drop on the door itself.

Generally, if you can get rid of extra shapes and triggers the publishing should be faster and the production more efficient.

With that said, it's a cool activity and I'm sure a neat way to get the students engaged in the learning.

Hi Daniel,

Really neat file you have here! There is a known bug where using triggers to immediately jump to another slide when an object is dragged over a target will break succeeding drag and drop slides. The workaround is to do the following:

1) Create a new 1 second long layer with a trigger to go to the next slide when timeline ends.
2) Change your "jump to slide when drag over" trigger to instead show the layer made in step 1 when an object is dragged over a target.
Check out this modified version of your file where I fixed Oregon and Texas!
