Help ! I Cannot Launch Course Twice - Spinning Wheel

May 08, 2013

I am using Articulate Online Trial. I uploaded a course. I click Launch once and it works fine. If I close the course, and then try to launch it again I get the spinning wheel.

Please, let me know if anyone has a solution.

I have to give this to a prospective employer in the morning.

Thanks

Chris

Welcome to the community, Chris!

That sounds strange. Looks like you posted this last night, are you still experiencing this today?

If so, can you try viewing your course in a different browser? Does the same thing happen?

If you view the actual link for the course (which can be found under the "Invite" tab), does the same thing happen?

If the problem continues, are you able to share a link to the course? I'd be happy to take a look.

Thanks!

Im still having the issue. When I load or play the course a second time either from URL or the Invite tab, the course opens up but the spinning wheel is on top of the content and does not go away.

I am using Firefox. I have sent this link out to several potential employers and I am worried that they will experience the same issue.  Can you please take a look at it.

Thank you.

Good morning Chris,

Thanks for getting back to me and for sharing the link.

I took a look in Google Chrome and in Mozilla Firefox and I'm experiencing the same then when trying to refresh/revisit the course.

I would suggest uploading a fresh copy of the course. First, delete the content from Articulate Online. Then, import the existing course into a new, blank Storyline file. For information on how to import slides into a another project, please check out the tutorial below:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

After importing into a new file, save the file with a new name. Upload the course to Articulate Online and see if you experience the same thing.

If the issue persists, we'd be happy to take a look at what's going on with the file. You'll be able to attach the .STORY file on the second page of the following form:

Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Please be sure to include a description of your issue. Please also include the URL for this thread in the form. Also, please share the case number with me. You're welcome to do so here, or in a private message. This way I can follow the progress of the case and update this thread.

Thanks very much, Chris!

I will try this, but it doesnt help the fact that I have given out the link already to many prospective employers. Is there anyway to replace the defective Storline with the new Storyline and still have the links the same?  Also, only have a day or two on my Storyline trial version and I am trying to rectify this situation. Is there a way to extend my trial again? I did not expect to have these issues.

Hi Chris,

By links do you mean URLs or hyperlinks that you've inserted in your original course? Those will stay the same, yes. If you're referring to the actual content link for Articulate Online, you can keep this the same by uploading over the original course. To do this, simply keep the same name as the original course. You should receive a prompt notifying you that a course with that name already exists. You'll want to overwrite it.

I'm afraid I cannot help with the trial extension. However, if you ask our support team, they should be able to see if that's a possibility.

I totally understand that unexpected issues can arise. Hopefully we'll be able to help in resolving this for you quickly.

If you've submitted a support case, please be sure to share the case number with me once you receive the email confirmation.

Thanks again,

Christine

Good morning Chris,

To me, it really sounds like there's an issue with corruption with the project file. When you import using the method I referrenced earlier, all used triggers, variables, etc. should move over with the slides.

You're importing from and to local project files, correct?

  • Work on your local drive (your C: drive). Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, including file corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
  • You should also make sure the directory path to your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters (for example C:\Articulate).
  • Avoid using special characters, accents or symbols in your file names (this includes spaces and underscores).

Additional information regarding "Naming Files, Paths, and Namespaces" in Windows operating systems can be found in the following Microsoft article.

If you are working locally, or moving the files to your local hard drive doesn't solve the issue, it really may be best to share the files with us, so we can see what's going on.

Thanks,

Christine

Hi Mark!

It seems you are referring to a support ticket, but you are replying to the community forums. I tried to look for a support case for you, but could not locate one. If you have a case number, I would be happy to take a look.

I also wanted to mention that replying to the forums via e-mail will include your signature, which you are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
