Help! I'm one slide from completing my course.

Mar 21, 2023

Hello eLearning Heroes community! I've run into a confusing issue and I'm hoping you can help.

Over the last several months, I've been developing a level-3 training simulation on shipping hazardous materials for our company. It is more or less an exact replica of the company software, rebuilt in Articulate Storyline for training purposes.  This has been an incredibly intense project, taking numerous months to complete and I'm ALMOST there, but I have one slide that's hanging in the course and I can't figure out how to fix it.  Articulate has held up remarkably well until this point, but now I'm stumped.

One slide in the course, built like all the others, is causing a lag, significant enough in many ways to bring up the articulate loading symbol for 20-30 seconds in the course preview and to lock up the user's browser on our LMS.

I've tested numerous things to try and determine the culprit, including:

  • Turning off triggers
  • Eliminating variables
  • Deleting layers, etc.

However, the only thing I can see works is deleting all of the text input fields on the slide. These text inputs are necessary for the course to function and there are text inputs on plenty of other slides that don't cause this issue. This slide does have the most text inputs in the course (12 total) but even dropping it down to two text inputs doesn't significantly reduce the issues with the slide.

Do you guys have any ideas? I'm at a loss. The slide before, the offending slide, and the slide after are attached here.

Thanks!

Hey Toby. It appears SL is having an issue connecting the "offending" slide (i.e., Insert Dimensions) to the following slide: Container Options. Interestingly enough, if you were to insert a blank slide in between to act as a "bridge," and set the trigger to jump to the next slide when the timeline starts, it works just fine.
