HELP!!!! Replacing a Screencast

Nov 07, 2013

I have just completed 2 courses which are quite long and complicated, and just had word from my line manager that the environment that the screencasts were taken from does not mirror LIVE and I need to re-take in another.

Is there an wasy way of simply taking out the current screencast and replacing with a new one, as I have tried this on a smaller course and it seems to wipe out all the other Layers, Triggers, Text etc. And therefore meaning that I would have to re-do the whole thing which is weeks of work.

Any suggestions?

Urgently need some help with this one.

Hi Ellen,

You mentioned it wiped out all the other layers, triggers, etc. do you mean for the whole course, or just the section where the screencast was? If it's wiping it out for the whole course, that obviously sounds like a much bigger problem and some odd behavior - and I'd suggest conducting a repair of Storyline and ensure you're working with local project files.

If it's just wiping out those pieces on the slides where the screencast was, that's to be expected as when you insert the screen cast over existing slides it's starting them from scratch. I'd recommend to insert the new version into it's own scene, and then copy/paste the appropriate triggers and layers. Once you've got everything moved over, you could then copy those slides and overwrite the original screencast in the main scene.
