Help Simulating a 3-Card Tarot Reading
Jul 20, 2018
Hi All,
I need some help with a variable. I am trying to simulate a 3-card Tarot reading of the 22 Major Arcana cards. I have set up a demo and attached it:
- It has 3 random number variables that start at "zero" and then are triggered by a drag/drop to make state changes on my Tarot cards.
- I have 3 piles of Tarot cards: 1-7, 8-14, and 15-22 (luckily these Tarot cards a numbered so checking the state changes and variables are easy).
- You reveal cards by dragging a card into the past, present and future drop zones.
I can't get my head around how to construct a variable that would simulate a deck of 22 cards shuffled randomly for the first choice, 21 cards for the second choice, and 20 cards for the third choice--and not repeat cards.
My current set up would work fine since the user wouldn't be able to see behind the curtain, but I want to figure this out for myself. I played around with different conditions on the 3 variables but I couldn't figure out how to make them truly random while suppressing the cards that are already revealed.
Thanks and I hope I posted this in the correct place.

Here is a thread that discussed picking random numbers without duplicates.
Thanks for the connection and putting me on the track so quickly....I'm intimidated by the solution so I have to spend some time with it. I'm not that familiar with javascript.
