Help w/ Drag & Drop Interaction, Please!
Feb 19, 2019
Hello,
I'm new to Storyline, and I'm trying to build a drag & drop interaction. I could use some assistance figuring out the best way to build it.
Basically, I want to have a facial expression image (I'm using the character Lily) surrounded by several text boxes with different written emotions inside the boxes (ie angry, happy, disappointed, etc).
I want to drag the correct text box onto the facial expression shown (angry word onto angry face) and have both the text box & the facial expression to "disappear," so another facial expression can be shown.
I've managed to build the first interaction. I can drag the angry word to the angry face, and the text box will disappear. But, I don't know how to reveal the next facial expression.
I have a total of 10 facial expressions and 10 text boxes. When all the words have been correctly matched with the corresponding facial expression, I want to display a congratulatory slide.
Please help me figure this out. Any and all assistance is greatly appreciated. I'm attaching a screenshot to help show what I'm talking about.
Thank you in advance for your help & guidance!
Cheers!
Heyward

Hello Heyward!
There may be a few different ways to set up this kind of interaction. One way would be to put each facial expression on a different slide. When the learner drags the first answer correctly, they will automatically move to the next slide.
You could set this up quickly by following these steps:
Let me know if that would work for your design!
Thank you so much for the guidance!
The different slides you're describing sounds very doable for me, especially since building several layers is new to me.
How would I set up the slides to auto advance as the learner makes a correct match?
Thank you again!
Also, as I'm testing building out different slides for each interaction, I realize that the text boxes are only active on the slide I'm setting to disappear.
How do make every text box active to be dragged, but only the correct text box disappears when matched?
If the incorrect text box is dragged, it needs to reappear in its original location, and/or a feedback window appears letting the learner know it's incorrect.
If you can help me set that up, I'll be forever grateful!
Thank you!
Hi Heyward!
I thought the best way to explain my idea for your interaction would be to put together a quick sample file for you and record a video explaining how I built it.
First, check out this video, then take a look at the attached file. Let me know if this helps you!
Thank you so much!!
I followed the example you set, and it works!
I sincerely appreciate the help!
