Help, White Box appear in Print screen in Chrome browser

Jun 30, 2020

HI,

I having an issue of a white box appear in printer setting (chorme browser only) after i publish my module. (enclose the attachment for preview) At first everything look fine, after i revised the content and re-published it, the white box appear. Im using the JavaScript to print screen for the certificate. I get the JavaScrip from here: https://www.elearningfreak.com/how-to-print-slides-in-articulate-storyline-360-in-html5/

I open a new Storyline and create the certificate page only, and publish it. It work fined. Then i import my content to this new storyline and publish again, the white box appear. Is a bug occur from my original content file? I wonder how can i solve this problem? I have been searching the related solution here (included 8 years ago discussion) but seen like no luck. Help, urgent, bcos need to submit this Friday.

Thank and appreciated.

Hi Lim,

Thanks for sharing your process and the code that you used. I hope this reaches you in time!

Although we're not well-versed in JavaScript, we're happy to help test the affected file. At the same time, there are a lot of coding experts in E-Learning Heroes who can offer good insight.

Are you comfortable with sharing the .story project publicly? You can attach the file to the discussion by using the Add Attachment button in your reply.

Hi,

Thanks for the replied. I found another way to solve the problem.

1) Create the certificate in new storyline. Preview it and make sure everything work fined.
2) Create a backup of the certificate storyline.
3) Import the original content module (that have bug issue) to your certificate storyline. I separated the certificate slide with the content slide by putting the certificate in a single scene.
4) U can Preview the content in storyline except the "scene of certificate."
5) Direct publish it and view it again in chrome browser, and export it in PDF, no more White Box.

I accidentally found out this solution is, because im too tired to keep repeating to import single slide by slide to check which of the slide got bug, and preview the scene before publish the whole module. I just import the content and direct published it, and it work. I still looking for alternative solution in case this issue happen in future.

Cheer.

Hi, Tq for replied. Yup, i already submit the report with the file.

This issue is coming back for my second module.
In my second module, everything is working good and i printed the certificate out without the blank box. Then client request to disable (Hide) the menu tab for the whole module. I hided it and publish again the module, the issue occurred. The blank box is coming back.

Hope can solve this issue.

TQ

Hi, as i mention my second module (module 2) issue occurred when i hide the menu tab. I fixed the issue again with my own way. enclosed the certificate that i printed it in PDF format. If you open the PDF in Adobe Illustrator, u can see the blank area actually is a artbox.

  1. Create the certificate in new storyline. Preview/ publish it and make sure everything work fined.
  2. Create a backup of the certificate storyline.
  3. Import the original content module (that have bug issue) to your certificate storyline. I separated the certificate slide (name "Print" slide) with the content slide by putting the certificate in a single scene.
  4. Since my client want to hide the menu tab, so i need to hide each of the menu tab slide by slide. DO NOT TOUCH or do anything on the Print slide.
  5. Direct publish it and view it again in chrome browser, and export it in PDF, no more White Box.

still Looking for alternative solution. Cheer.
