Help with a Pick many slide

May 14, 2018

Hello,

I have a pick many slide with two correct answers out of 9 choices.  I would like if the user picks incorrectly two of the choices shrink away.  I believe it is possible to do this by pausing the timeline until the user submits with all layers visible then if incorrect play till another point in time line after I shrink two of the incorrect layers out then pause the timeline again till user hits submit etc.

How can I pause till submit and then ply till another point and stop?

I'm Happy to submit the slide for review.

Thanks so much for any help,

Bret

Hi Wendy thanks for the response.  I tried making a hint button to advance the project and keep removing wrong answers but once I hit submit it reverts to beginning of timeline.  Initially what I wanted was for every time a user picks incorrectly two answers automatically disappear until they are left with the last two answers.  I'm attaching the file.  This is a project to help combat racism.

You are awesome to help!

Hi Bret

see this Peek video - is this what you mean?

I'm not sure what all the pause timeline triggers are on the base layer so I haven't delved into that but on the Try again layer I did uncheck the prevent user clicking on base layer and pause timeline of baselayer.  I also changed the triggers on the try again layer.

If this is working as you wanted I'll upload the .story file otherwise let me know and I'll take another look.

That is cool I would love it if the wrong answers chosen were the ones to disappear and if one of the choices was right it would need to stay.   (the pause triggers were put in to try to animate two incorrect choices disappearing.  What happens next when the user tries again?

Thanks again for your wonderful insight!

Sincerely,

Bret

Hi Bret

sorry I had to go to work so I've just got back to see your post.

See attached your updated file.  For the two correct responses I created a 'correct' state blue with a tick.  When the user tries again, SL looks to see which were in selected state and hides them if they were incorrect or changes to correct state.  Because you have unlimited tries it keeps looping until the two correct responses are selected.

When the two correct answers showed it hides the try again layer and shows the correct layer but the correct box was hiding the responses so I created a duplicate feedback master and moved the correct box to the bottom left - you may or may not want to do this way.

Not an elegant solution but it may give you an idea how to make it work

Hi Wendy,

That is really cool. Sorry it took me so long to respond.  I am a stay at home dad with a 1 and 3 year old trying to juggle multiple projects.  This one is for a good cause though and I thank you very much for your awesome assistance.  On a side note is there a setting I'm missing to get email updates when people respond to these posts?

Thanks again,

Bret

Hi Bret

sounds like you certainly have your hands full.  Usually if you are the poster you should automatically receive email updates so not sure why you aren't.  As a double up you could try clicking the subscribe button at the top of the post then you should definitely be part of the thread.

Let me know if you need any more help :-)
