Help with using a lightbox as a menu!

Aug 12, 2015

Apologies if this is a bit of a newbie question, just having a few issues using a lighbox as a menu.

In the menu slide there are 5 buttons, each one relates to a different scene.  I want the learners to be able to click a button and be taken to that scene.

I only want a button to link to a section if the learner has already started that section, otherwise I don't want it to do anything.  Here's how I have it now:

I have a variable relating to each scene.  They start false and when the scene starts there is a trigger that changes that scene's variable to true.  On the contents slide I have two triggers for each button.  The first closes the lightbox when the user clicks if the variable is equal to true, and the second trigger jumps to the relevant scene when the user clicks and the variable is true.

What happens is the lighbox closes but the scene doesn't change, it just resumes where it left off.

Any advice??

Hi, Gary -- Michael is correct; it's always a good idea to attach your .story file, or if privacy is an issue, a pared-down sample that illustrates the behavior you are seeing so that people in the community can take a closer look and make suggestions.

Please use the ADD ATTACHMENT button in the bottom left corner of the reply box in the thread, and you can browse for the file from there. Please also note that if you reply via email, your attachment will not appear here in the thread. Thanks and welcome to the community! :)

Think of the lightbox as a quick way to make a layer of any slide without having to recreate it. It turns off the base timeline when it appears, so when you close it, the base timeline resumes.

If you are really in love with the look of a lightbox, you can make a slide that looks like a lightbox, but it will act like a slide in its relationship to other slides. All your variable logic will work the same.
