Hint Caption only triggering once

Aug 13, 2019

Hi,

I've stumbled across an issue that I just can't get a grip on. So I have a base layer (which is supposed to be a recording) then I have multiple layers with text so that you can press next and get more information on the same slide (just diffrent layers with text bars) if that makes sense.

So my issue now is that when I'm pressing this button which should trigger the hint caption, it only gets triggered ones and it puts the button in the state "disabled". I've also tried to mess around with variables, and also "Change state of button when"... Etc..

The only diffrent it makes is that I'm able to press the button again, but this time the hint caption does not get triggered. And the reason why we dont want the button to be on the base layer is because we dont want to Always have the option to get the hint. if that makes sense.

Do you understand my problem?

Hope I explained good enough, I'll also post a .story down below that I put together so that you could see what I mean.

Thanks in advance!

Hi Kevin,

I think the issue is mainly that when the user clicks on the hint button from one layer, it shows the hint layer, which is now on top of the other layer. You don't have any triggers to hide that layer, You have an exit animation to fade the hint, but the user remains on the hint layer.

One alternative would be to change the hint button to trigger by mouser hover, since then you have the option to restore things when the mouse leaves. That works well except I know on tablets and phones hover does not always function.

If you definitely want to use the click, then add a trigger to the hint layer to hide itself on timeline end, and set the layer properties of that layer not to hide other slide layers. That way, when the hint fades, the layer hides itself, and the original layer is still active.

I've done that in the attached.
