how can i default the hint captions to turn off

I saw this post: Absolutely Linda, when you are about to insert the screen recording, and you select Try mode, you will notice a little bit of blue writing 'Try Options'. Click on that and untick the captions option. You can also turn off the Show Correct option so it just jumps to the next slide if they get it right. To get rid of the Try Again box you need to go into each slide and edit to change the number of attempts to 1.
So somehow, in my project my hint captions layer is turned off on all new try it recordings, now I want to do one with the hint captions turned on and I can't get it to work. It's just in my template file. New recordings, not done in my template file do work.

I don't see any blue text in my template file. I did click on the Try mode options, it says: show hint captions, and I have the default to "Always" but it's still not yeilding a try it sim with the hint caption layer.
