I'm having the same issue that Grzegorz had. I tried the above solutions, and still when you click anywhere on the slide, it pauses the screencast. So, if users click it, my audio and call-outs are no longer timed properly.
Adding a hotspot didn't help, if you click where the video is on the screen, it still pauses the video, even though I put the video behind the hotspot.
The transparent layer over the video also did nothing. You can still click on the screen and the video will pause.
Are you placing this hotspot in regards to a screen recording step by step slide or another video? Could you share a sample .story file here with us that you're working on?
It looks like the hotspot timeline doesn't start till well into the slide timeline and therefore the video has already begun? I'm not sure I'm following along with that set up to help make adjustments to your file but if you want to share a bit more information in terms of what you're looking for I'll be happy to help.
In my slide, I have inserted customised play / pause buttons. I have a video also in that. Now, when the slide begins to play, the user is able to click on the play/ pause button in the slide as well as on the video. i;e; video can be paused & played when the user clicks on the video. I don’t want that. I want to block user clicking on the video to pause /play. I only need the user to pause/play the video by clicking the pause / play buttons in the slide.
Now ,only once the video is over, the user should be able to click the tabs. The use should be able to proceed to the 2nd tab (Note 2) only if he has visited the 1st tab (Note 1) . The user should be able to visit tab 5 (Note 5), only if he visits tabs (notes) 1,2,3 & 4.
Ok, thanks for clarifying. The hotspot that you've included doesn't match the entire length of the timeline of your video, so therefore the user is still able to click on it. I changed that in the attached version, so that now it covers the video at all times - and now you cannot click on the video to pause/play it.
I had the same issue and fix it by creating a layer where I put all my hotspots. I show this layer when the time line starts, ans in the layer properties I prevent user from clicking on the base layer.
I prefer this solution because the video is no more a hot spot and the mouse cursor remains an arrow, which is not misleading.

Hi grzegorz,
have you tried removing the scrubbar from the slide where your video is playing ?
There is a little cogwheel next to your slide's name, if you click on it you can alter the player behaveour for that one slide
Click on "player features"' and select "custom for this slide"
Untick the seekbar
Cheers
Geert
My presentation has no seekbar. Clicking on playing media pauses them though.
How about putting a transparent layer over it
As soon as the video starts, you shaw the layer, when the media stops you hide it
Here's how I solved that issue:
The screen cast is still "clickable" but the media doesn't stop/start each time it's clicked.
Thanks Michael for sharing that here!

Hi Rachel,

Dear Ashley,
I went through the comments. I tried executing the same, inserting hotspot on the video as in the below screenshot.
But still I am able to play and pause the video on the screencast. That is, I am able to play/pause on the :-
1) Play/pause button and
2) On the video screencast, as well at the same time.
This leads to unsynchronisation of the animations on the tabs following.
Please note I dont have a separate audio in the base layer. The video itself has a voice over in it.
Please find attached the sample file I have worked on. Can i stop the user to play/pause on the screencast ?
Request you to kindly help resolving this issue.
