How do you pause the audio on different layers?

Jul 31, 2023

I have a slide where they can click on different items on the screen. I want the text on the layer to stay when they go to another layer, but I don't want the audio narration to continue when they go to the next layer. How can do I do that?

Hi Debbie,

I'm happy to help provide some insight into your question! I appreciate you sharing the Storyline project file. Here are the changes I made to still show the texts in the layers after loading a new one but stopping the audio for that layer.

  1. Create a new True/False variable.New True/False variable
  2. Added triggers in the base layer to toggle the True/False variable when the learners click the rectangle menus.

Toggle variable triggers

  3. Added a trigger in each of the sublayers to stop the audio for that layer when the True/False variable changes.

Stop audio trigger

I attached the revised project file with these changes so you can test the modified interaction. Please let me know if you have any questions about the steps!

Hey Eric, to make it even better, he could be working with an "if" condition, so that he stops the sound only when it is true/false (he chooses which one to stop) and puts an "Else" for if it is not him play the sound, it already creates an action to possibly save the inconvenience of the sound not coming back
