How may I "end ,y project" instead of closing it?

Mar 09, 2013

I published my storyline project for the web, but if i let the page where the presentation is embedded open for some minutes without doing anything, a window appears: it tells me that "the page is trying to close the window" -something similar beacause it gives this message in italian. Is there a function, when publishing, to disable this function/message? In Captivate you can stop the project instead of close it -in this case the message appears, in the firts one no.

Hope you understand my question and can help me!

Hi Sonia. Welcome to E-Learning Heroes,

This doesn't sound like something that would be modified in Storyline. It sounds like the page you're using is trying to redirect, or close the course. If this happens when your course is idle, however, it sounds like some sort of timeout.

What browser are you currently using? Have you tried using a different browser to see if the same thing happens?

Also, how are you viewing the course? Do you have it uploaded to a web server or LMS?

Thanks!

hi Christine, many thanks for your reply. I uploaded my video on a web server and the company that is using this course use, company policies, internet explorer. Yes, it seems that there is a sort of timeout. Unfortunately, i can't use any other browser, because of the restrictions applied by the same company. Is there a way to avoid this thing? As I told you, publiching with captivate you can choose to stop or close the course. Choosing the first option you remain on the same page, avoiding readers quit the page.

Thanks again

Sonia

Hi Sonia,

I haven't personally used Captivate, so it's difficult for me to understand what feature you're referring to with that software. Can you share a link to the published course, so I can get a better idea of what's happening? You're also welcome to send it to us privately, if you'd prefer: Articulate Support - Submit a Support Case

Thanks!

Hi there Sharon!

Sorry if I missed your previous posts, I don't recall seeing them.

How do you want this to function, exactly? Do you want the course to close when they've finished the Drag-and-Drop interaction and click on "Submit", or? If you want it to close after they've interacted with an object ("Submit", "Next", or a custom button), you can add a trigger that will "Exit Course" when clicked.

Can you tell me a little more about how you want this to work? Also, are you able to share the .STORY file so I can take a look, please?

Thanks!
