How to edit object triggers connected to textboxes inside a state?
Mar 24, 2015
As a Storyline 1 beginner I must apologize, but I cannot find a way to do this, and Google doesn't return any relevant results.
I have received a Storyline 1 project, and I want to edit the object triggers on the objects Text Box 1 and Text Box 2, shown on the screenshot below. My problem is that these objects ("Text Box 1" and "Text Box 2") appear neither on the slide's Timeline nor do their triggers appear among the slide's main Triggers. I can only see them when I choose "Edit States" on the dark rectangle that contains them, but that greys out the "Edit triggers" button on the Triggers panel . How can I edit these triggers?
Kindly,
Andreas

Hello Andreas,
If the text boxes are in the state of an object, you will not be able to add a trigger to them. You could only add a trigger to the object that it is a state of.
If you want, you could share the file here and we can take a look at the set up for you.
Hello Emily,
I'm not sure my employer would approve of me posting the files here, but thank you, I appreciate your kind reply.
I have no idea how my predecessor managed to set up those text-boxes-inside-a-rectangle-inside-a-state, but I managed to find a way around the problem: I simply removed the text boxes and created a few text boxes of my own on the Timeline, set their initial state to Hidden and gave them the triggers I wanted. Maybe it's not the fanciest solution, but it does the job. :)
Hi Andreas,
That sounds like a good workaround. Having the text boxes on the timeline should allow for triggers to be added. We do have a link to share files privately, so if you still needed assistance, I can share that link.
Thank you Emily, I appreciate it! I may need that for another problem that has popped up in the same project. To keep the thread on topic though I'm going to post a new question about it.
Sounds good Andreas.
