We're seeing an issue in Storyline 360 where 'Execute Javascript' triggers used on the player do not work in the HTML5 output. It sounds like that may be what's going on here, but we'll want to take a look at your file to be sure.
You cannot access the Built-In variables directly with javascript.
First, create your own variable. Then using a trigger, assign the Built-In variable to your variable. Then you can access your variable with javascript.

I have the latest version, and I'm still seeing this error - surely this was fixed by now?
