How to make a trigger for zoom region tool.
May 31, 2016
Hello Everyone,
Yesterday I did a short search to find a way for making a trigger for zoom region tool in Storyline but couldn't find anything. Then suddenly guessed maybe this trick works and made this example that proudly works well.
The main steps are as following:
- Place your picture and make a button to trigger zoom region (don't add any trigger to the button for now).
- Duplicate your slide and set the button on the first slide to jump to this slide when the user clicks.
- Make the zoom region on the second slide, start it for example from second 0.5 and end it to second 2.5 when the whole timeline is 3 seconds.
- In the second slide set a slide trigger that pauses the timeline when the timeline reaches to 2 seconds.
- In the second slide set a slide trigger that jumps to the first slide when the timeline ends.
- In the second slide make a button that resumes timeline on this slide when the user clicks.
- In slide properties of the second slide set "When revisiting" to "Reset to initial state".
Tadah!
Your recipe is finished, save and taste it.
You can see the example here:

I attached the zip file as well, hope it being uploaded.

Hi, Mandana -- Thanks so much for sharing your discovery! And as I'm sure it will help others, perhaps you might also upload just the .story (or project) file as well so that others are able to take a peek "behind the scenes", so to speak!
Hi Christie, Thank you for your positive feedback. About the .story file you are totally right. I thought I uploaded it then got whatever I uploaded was the output folder not the storyline file. Sorry about that. So now I'm doing.
Awesome, Mandana! Thanks so much, and in case you were unaware, I thought I might also mention that we have a design-related forum called Building Better Courses, and you'd be welcome to share over there, as well. :)
Hi Christie
Thank you for suggestion. I posted in Building Better Courses
as well.
Hope be useful for others.

Thanks for the update Mandana!
I wanted to mention that replying to the forums via e-mail attaches your signature. You are welcome to pop in and edit if needed.
Hi Leslie,
Thank you for letting me know. I fixed it.
