Once, I have tried several things related to this but couldn't find them. One thing you can do is edit the state of the marker and adding a shape behing it. The thing is that the animation occurs around the marker and not the shape.
This is a "really rough" image of what I mean... just done it and didn't adjust the colors.

You cannot make the marker bigger, you could make something that functions like a marker using layers or states
