How to print screen to capture text entry fields - user print text

Hello,

Forgive me if this is a repeat question. I can't quite find the answer to this issue on these forums exactly as I need.

I want to know how - if it's possible - a user can print the screen/slide and be able to see text that they have entered in a text entry field. 

I have seen to add a button with  trigger with javascript with window.print()

But testing this produces a blank page - with none of the text entered into a text entry field in the module/on the slide. This has been tested on Chrome and it saves to pdf with nothing visible. IE also produces blank.

NOTES:
This module has been published to an LMS. 
It would be nice to be able to save the text entered in a text entry field as a pdf or Word or text file of some sort.

We would prefer users to be able to work through the module and fill in forms/text IN the module and then print/save to computer rather than have to download a separate Word Doc to fill in.
