HTML5 and Slide Functionality

Mar 07, 2018

Hi,

I'm building a course that has enter and exit animations on each slide. The timelines are set to pause halfway through and continue when the user clicks the Next button. When the slide reaches the end of the timeline the course then moves to the next slide.

This all works when the course runs in Flash; however, when I launch in HTML5, the timeline will advance when the user clicks any item on the slide (not just the Next button). For example, I have a slide with 4 tabs, and after the user clicks each, a video plays on a lightbox slide. When I launch in HTML5 and play the first video the slide progresses after I close the lightbox. Any ideas why this is happening?

Hello – and welcome to the community, Adam!

Sorry you're running into that uncanny behavior with the HTML5 output! I personally haven't heard of this particular issue before, but I'm happy to help get to the bottom of it! I've got a few questions to start:

  • Can I confirm what version of Storyline you're using?
  • Did you publish the course for Web, LMS, or something else?
  • Are you able to send through your .story file for testing? You can add it as a comment clicking on Add Attachment below, or you can share it privately here.

I look forward to your reply!
