HTML5 Audio issue

May 25, 2012

I've discovered that audio or video will not play on the ipad in HTML5 unless there is the next button and the user clicks.  If a slide is set to automatically advance, the audio (or video actually) will not play.

Is there a way to submit a bug anymore?

Hi Ryan! There are some inherent limitations in Mobile Safari, and one of them is that it won't play sound unless it's initiated or triggered by the user. That's why you're not hearing any audio on the auto-advance slides. Unfortunately, this is one of the inconveniences of designing HTML5-friendly courses... behaviors that work fine in Flash and in the Articulate Mobile Player on an iPad are not always handled well by Mobile Safari.

Here's a list of other differences in the way HTML5, Flash, and iPad output handle various features in your published output... hope that's helpful, since there are a few issues like that which you'll want to be aware of if you're designing for HTML5.
