Does the output format chosen during publisher affect what a web object embedded in the project will open in? I selected HTML5 and the web object still opened in Flash, but I'm not sure the two are connected.
That's a great question. How your web object opens would be dependent on your browser at that point. Do you see the same behavior in all browsers? Is it causing an issue for you?
Truly curious, as I cannot believe that I haven't heard this question before :)
I submitted a ticket to support as well, and they said:
"The web object inserted in your Storyline project is independent of your published output. There isn't a way for Storyline to control the web object to display Flash or HTML5 output. You'll need to work with the web administrator to clarify how their web page works in Flash and HTML5." As you said, but just in case others are searching the forum for this question :)
We have a web object that performs better in HTML5, so we set the output of the Storyline file to ONLY HTML5 (no Flash backup) and opened the Tin Can file on our website in Chrome. But the web object still opened in Flash (we had allowed Flash on the page). Haven't tested in other browsers. We will be looking into ensuring that the web object is only published in HTML5. :)

Also I'm using Storyline 360 if that helps.

Awesome Becca! Glad Abel could help you out with that and thank you for sharing the outcome with me. Good luck!
