HTML5 output of Storyline recording Jerks while transiting from one screen to another.

Feb 21, 2017

Flash version of Storyline recording works fine without any jerks. However, while viewing the HTML5 version I have noticed jerk when transiting from one screen to another. If I delete the screen recording layer which gets induced automatically in the storyline the issue gets resolved, but then I lose out the animation part(scrolloing etc.).   This I have noticed while creating the course in Storyline 2.10.

Do anybody have a resolution to this?

Hi there Chiranjib!

Hmm, that's certainly not expected. I haven't seen reports of this kind of behavior in the forums before. You'll want to be sure you're on the latest update of Storyline 2 (Update 11) and that you're working from your local hard drive

Just curious - how did you publish the file, for Web or LMS? And where did you upload the published zip file for testing? If you view a course on your local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail. To properly test your published content, upload it to the environment for which it was published.

Let me know if you see a difference after trying those steps!

Hi Alyssa, Thank you for your quick response. I have published this in the latest version (update 11) and checked both the web and the LMS version. Unfortunately the issue persists, specifically when I view the output in iOS devices. Is it something to do with the storyline player, or the native mp4 player of the devices?

Without seeing your file, it's hard to say what could be causing this behavior. I'd like our Support Engineers to take a look and weigh in on what could be the reason for the jerky transitions. You can send your file to them directly here, and after they test it, they'll reach out to you via email. Keep an eye on your inbox for a message from Support@Articulate.com.
