We have discovered a bug whereby hyperlinks on a slide in Storyline 360 are being read by the screen reader (NVDA) as visited, even when the link has not yet been visited. This happens whether the links are in the same text box or separate text boxes. Initially the links are all read as unvisited but once one has been selected and opened, all the other links are read as visited too. Is there a way to fix this?
I'm happy to help! If you've already viewed a link and it's stored in your browser cache, then NVDA will recognize this as a visited link. It actually isn't a bug, but it's expected behavior. If you're anticipating what new users will experience, they will hear "visited link" only if they've visited that slide and selected the link.
Please let me know if you have additional questions.
I am experiencing the same thing in version 3.72 still. If I go find a new link that I've never been to before and set it as the URL in the second hyperlink, publish, then open my screen reader, launch the first URL and close, then go to the second URL ... it is read as visited even though I've never been to the URL before. Has a fix been identified yet?
I'm sorry you're running into this issue with hyperlinks and JAWS! I have opened a support case on your behalf. You may have seen the support email that was sent. Our support engineers will be in contact soon to help you through this issue.
I have a course that is using Hyperlinks on multiple slides that open a layer to show definitions. Once the first link is clicked, all the following links are saying they are visited when they are not.
We are currently tracking a known issue in Storyline 360 wherein visiting or opening a hyperlink in a text box will set all other hyperlinks on the same text box as "visited link" when using JAWS screen reader.
Based on your description of the behavior you're experiencing, it looks like you are being affected by the same bug. Feel free to share a copy of your project file here or by opening a case with our support team if you'd like us to confirm.
We have added this thread to the bug report so that we can notify everyone here as soon as a fix is released.
Good news! Today, we just released Storyline 360 Update 74 (Build 3.74.30180.0) which included the fix for the bug where visiting or opening a hyperlink in a text box will set all other hyperlinks on the same text box as "visited link" when using JAWS screen reader.
Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app!
If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out in this discussion or in a support case.
