I can't import PowerPoint in Storyline
Apr 02, 2014
When I try to import a PowerPoint file into Storyline I get this error message:
Exception during Import PowerPoint
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at
Articulate.Storyline.Import.PowerPoint.PowerPointImporter.FetchSlideSelectionInfo(String filename, IProgress progress)
I am running 32-Bit Office Pro 2013 and I already did a "Repair" on the Office installation.
I have the latest version of Storyline running.
I am at a standtill until I get htis fixed ... does anyone have an ideas?

Couple of things you can try (no promises)
Repair your installation of Storyline
Check there is no Studio 13 associated PPTA file (as it may not import)
Open the PPT file in Powerpoint keep PPT open and then try the import
Uninstall and Reinstall Storyline
Thanks for the info Phil.
I tried the third option, and it didn't change the situation.
There is no associated Studio13 PPTA file
I tried to repair the installation and that didn't work.
So now I am going to uninstall and reinstall and see what happens.
I deactivated Storyline ... totally uninstalled it ... reinstalled it ...
... and I have the same problem.
Is there a conflict somewhere? I also have Articulate Studio 09 running. Could that cause problems?
Okay. After I reinstalled it and rebooted ... I went back into control panel and repaired it and rebooted ... and now the slides import.
That's really weird, but it is working so I'll take it!
Glad you got it working, it happens to me every now and then, I forgot to mention the rebooting because it is second nature to me after an install.
I cannot import .pptx file into Storyline 3. No error message. The "Reading PowerPoint file" just keeps spinning for hours. When I click the X to stop it, Storyline is frozen and I have to stop the task via task manager to close the program. I am about the recreate the .pptx file in Storyline, but I would love to save that time and get the import to work. Any suggestions?
Hi Brenda!
I'm happy to help! Do you mind if I look at the PowerPoint file to see why the import is freezing? You can upload the file to me using this link. I'll take a look and respond as soon as possible!
