I encounter this situation all the time. Whenever I create a motion path straight line, SL automatically creates a vertical path. What I need is a horizontal path. So I edit it but it is never perfectly straight and the motion path results in a choppy looking path. Can someone help? I have attached my file. When I hold down shift or ctrl during the change from vertical to horizontal, SL moves my original graphic in a strange fashion and it still isn't perfectly straight.
Hi Theresa, if you carefully select the animation path that you made, hit ctrl shift enter and then squish it by adjusting it's dimensions to 0 pixel tall.
Thanks for the tip. The bummer is this: if you're path is already created and you choose your suggestion above, for some reason SL makes the path larger/longer.
Ah but you can change that by selecting the path and hold down ctrl shift and one of the arrows. This will incrementally adjust your scale! (or just correct that in the size and position window[ctrl-shift-enter])
Oh my god. I saw the title of your project and interpreted P.O.S. to mean something else entirely! I only realized you meant Point Of Sale when I opened the project. Still laughing that I though someone had the bravery to make a module about a day in the life of a Piece Of... Ha!
I'm actually having a similar issue. I would like my vertical line to start where it meets the horizontal line at the bottom, then move up the motion path to the arrow. I would also like to add a line motion path for the arrow but for some reason my original line is way too long and I can't get it to match up. Any suggestions would be great!
Thanks for contacting us and sharing what you are experiencing within your project.
Without seeing your project, it's hard to know how you've set this up. With your permission, I'd like to take a look at your project file, even the single slide in a new file, to investigate what's happening. You can share it publicly here, or send it to me privately by uploading it here. I'll delete it when I'm done troubleshooting.
See the video to change the length of a motion path. You can change the X and Y values to change the start point of the path. Before you choose the path, you can change the X, Y, Width and Length of the object.

Of course you could use the pull down to make it horizontal automatically too. if you haven't

If this is still an issue (it was driving me nuts recently ) you can just hit the Path Options button and swap it to Horizontal
Just hold "Alt" when dragging the start or end points

Thank you so much, I will try that!
