Hi John! It sounds like you're wanting to replace the images in your course with images that you've imported from the Media Library, which you absolutely can do. Instructions to replace all instances of an asset are here, and I've also recorded a quick Peek to show you how to replace a single asset if you are doing them one by one as I was!
Thank you for your reply.
I am actually not trying to replace an image, as I have not added an image to the placeholder yet.
I am trying to insert a Media Library image into an image placeholder that I have added to the master/layout for the slide that I am using.
The only options I see in the placeholders are "Insert Picture from File" or "Insert Content Library 360 Photo" (see attachment).
Is there a way to do this that I am missing?
Hi John,
Ah, thanks for the additional details. I see what you're describing, that once you've set up an Image placeholder on the slide master the only options there are to add in from Content Library or an Image file. I'm going to share this with the team to see about adding an option for Media Library there.
Thank you, that would be very helpful. I was attempting to use the Media Library "alternate text" feature to describe my images, that were complex and had a tendency to all look the same as thumbnails.
I'm having the same problem. Although I can choose to insert an image from the media library onto the slide, it will not format it into the image place holder in the slide template. This will also be a problem later on if I switch out the image in an entire project as it will just drop the image onto each slide, regardless of the placeholder format. Help. Thanks!
Hi Leslie,
Thanks for reaching out! To answer your question:
Can I insert an image from the Media Library into an image placeholder on my slide?
While you can insert an image using the Image file or Content Library options, we don't yet have the option to insert from the Media Library.
I'll bring this back up to my team as well as add your plus one to the feature request we have.
+1 from me for this feature
We REALLY need this feature to work properly. I was going to report this as a bug, as it most certainly fits the bill. The tools are there, but the programming isn't.
Could we get an update, please.
Hi, matulay!
Thanks for letting us know how important having this capability is for you.
We're still monitoring requests, but don't have any updates planned at this point. A few ideas in the meantime:
I know that isn't an ideal approach, so we'll notify this discussion if we make changes that will help!
I googled this same question and arrived here.
Any update on this 2 year old question for a feature that should have been here since beta?
Hello Devin and welcome to E-Learning Heroes. 😊
Thank you for reaching out and sharing that this is a feature you would like to see as well.
As Katie shared above, we are tracking the requests and will share any updates we have here in the future, but I do not have one at this time.
+ 1 for me
+1 for us, too, please. This would really be a great feature. Thank you.
Yes, add the ability to pull images from media library from placeholder.
Seem to be lots of requests for this now - can we elevate this to the team and get it implemented please?
adding a request for this feature to this 3 year old question! This makes image placeholders a completely moot option in master slides.

This is good news and will really help my workflow.
How do we get this update? I notice that I don't have it yet and there are not updates waiting in my Articulate 360 app.
Hello John,
I'm glad this new Storyline update will benefit your workflow! If you haven't updated yet and don't see the Update button in the Articulate 360 desktop app, the first troubleshooting step is to reboot your computer and recheck the desktop app for the update.
If the issue persists, you can check this article for possible solutions. If none of those solutions work, please connect with us in a case so we can determine what's happening. We'll reach out soon after we hear from you.
