Storyline doesn't include an automatic slide numbering feature - so if you'd like to reference the slide number on each slide you'll need to insert a text box with the number or set up something where it's adjusting a variable. There is some further discussion in this thread on how to set that up.
For your text alignment, are you clicking on the text box itself or highlighting the text and using the alignment button? I'm not having any problems using the alignment button in my .story files, so I'd like to know more about the steps you're taking to try and align it to the left and what behavior you're see.
Thanks for the video. I see you highlight the text, but then that disappears and it looks like the text box itself is selected - not the text any longer. Granted, in my own files when I select the textbox shape I'm able to adjust the position of the entire text within that shape - so I'd still like to take a look at your .story file or even just that one slide. Can you also let me know if are you able to replicate the same behavior on other .story files or is it only this one?

Hi Ashley,
OK, I will see the posts about slide number.
Regarding issue "text alignment button", I recorded a little video to demonstrate the problem, please, see attached file.
Thanks for reply.
Best.
