Installing Storyline 2

Sep 02, 2015

I'm having this dilemma where I want to install my new SL2 program and play around with it (my work is switching next month) but I'm afraid it's going to take over all of my old files and make them not work in SL1, which I need them to for work.

Someone reassure me that this is not going to happen.

Hi Buel,

It's not going to happen.  If you open old SL1 files in SL2, they'll have a backup copy made, but any changes you make to them in SL2 will no longer be accessible in SL1. Also, it will look like the icons for your files are all SL2, but they can safely be opened in SL1 if that's where they were created originally or accessing the new "back up " copy.

If you have Articulate Storyline 1 and Articulate Storyline 2 installed on the same computer, Microsoft Windows will always open your project files in the latest version by default—in this case, Storyline 2. If you need to open an existing project file in Storyline 1, launch Storyline 1 and use any of the following options:

  • If the file appears in your "recent projects" list, just click it.
  • Click Browse in the lower left corner of the start screen and select the file you want to open.
  • Click the round Articulate button in the upper left corner and select Open, then browse for the project file.
