Interaction with text entry step
Nov 12, 2012
Hi all,
Actually, when I say my step by step simulation works correctly, that's not quite true.
For a login, you double-click the icon, enter user name, tab, enter password, then click Login.
Storyline separated the [enter password] from the [click Login] step, so nothing happens when the user enters the password. It doesn't automatically bring up the Login slide.
I had to add "press Enter" as an interaction to make it work.
How can I fix this? How do I make the Login button display when the user has entered the password?
Thanks,
Judith

Hi Judith,
It would be really helpful if you could attach your project or send it to us so we can be sure we understand the problem better, but from what you're describing, it sounds like the enter key is behaving as expected.
Actually, I don't want to have the user hit the Enter key, I want them to immediately click Login after entering their password.
How can I change the state after the user enters the password?
Hi Judith,
Any chance you can attach your slide here? It would be helpful to see exactly what you have so far and what you're trying to accomplish. In the meantime, this tutorial describes your options for submission keys in a freeform text entry question.
Sure, I'll post it again. The problem is in the Try scene between slide 2.3 and 2.4.
In 2.3, I want the user to type the password. Then I want to move to slide 2.4 without any further action from the user.
[type your password and click Login]
Currently it works if the user presses Enter after typing in the password, but I don't want to show it that way.
Here it is, and thanks.
Judith
